THE Ateneo Blue Eagles will once again face the La Salle Green Archers as they conquered Far Eastern University (FEU) Tamaraws in an overtime win in the semifinals match of UAAP Season 80 on Wednesday, November 22, at the Mall of Asia Arena.
The Blue Eagles looked to bounce back from their loss to the Tamaraws. They were leading throughout the first half ending with the score 40-33, despite the Tamaraws limiting their shooting percentage to just 38.24 percent.
Foul trouble was a factor for the Tamaraws when Arvun Tolentino picked up two early in the game.
But FEU came back when they had a 7-0 run in the opening of the 3rd quarter.
The 4th quarter saw the Tamaraws take the lead with a 3-pointer by Wendell Comboy. This was followed by a 6-0 run by the squad.
But the Blue Eagles showed the heart of a champion and fought back to tie the game to 75-all by the end of the quarter and heading to overtime.
In overtime, The Blue Eagles took a 5-point lead, 85-80, courtesy of a clutch 3-pointer made by Matt Niteo during the 46th second mark and was followed by Isaac Go's 2-point shot to get the book their ticket to the finals facing De La Salle University Green Archers and send the Tamaraws home, 87-82.
Jasper Parker lead the Tamaraws with 19 points, while Arvin Tolentino contributed 13 points in the loss. The Blue eagles Highest scorer was Thirdy Ravena with 17 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists. (USC AB Communications Intern Frankl Glarino/SunStar Philippines)
