AYALA Land Logistics Holdings Corp. president Rowena Tomeldan, together with the local government officials and the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (Peza), led the groundbreaking ceremony last Thursday, April 25, of the P172-billion Laguindingan Technopark in barangays Moog and Tubajon, Laguindingan, Misamis Oriental.

The Laguindingan Technopark, a 1,045,247-million-square meter property of Laguna Technopark Inc. (LTI), will be a catalyst in the economic development of Laguindingan by drawing innovative global and local businesses leading to more job opportunities, according to Ayala Land Logistics Holding Corp.

It is expected to generate around 5,000 jobs. People around the area will also benefit as they put up business that will cater to the needs of the locator-companies.

“We all as part of Ayala Land Logistics Holdings Inc. look forward to foreign and local manufactors of electronics, pharmaceuticals, automotive, logistics operators, setting up business here in Mindanao. And we aim to create an environment that will energize the barangays of Laguindingan and even Cagayan de Oro,” Tomeldan said.

“Laguindingan Technopark will open more opportunities for growth and also support the communities surrounding it,” she added.

The Ayala Land envisioned the technopark to be the new logistics hub in the Philippines due to its strategic location, being Mindanao’s Business Center and Industrial Trade Corridor and Mindanao’s gateway to domestic markets in Visayas and Luzon.

It is expected to be the home for both local and global companies engaged in a wide range of enterprises and ensure that all locators are only engaged in light to medium, non-polluting industries and will comply with the various environmental regulations local and national government.

“We hope that with our project, we’ll be able to contribute to the economic development of Misamis Oriental as co-catalyst with the local government and its people for its growth,” Tomeldan said.

Misamis Oriental Governor Yevgeny Emano, for his part, was grateful to Ayala Land, saying that the Provincial Government will help them if ever they encounter problems in the future.

“In this province, we will help you, if you will be encountering challenges in the future, let us know. We will help you, we will protect the investors in the province of Misamis Oriental. And we hope that this is not the second or the third and the last, but a start of more investments in the province of Misamis Oriental,” Emano said.
