COMING from back-to-back win, Baba Pro-Audio took on Romul’s Power in the main tiff of the 3rd President’s Cup Green CdeO Eagles Club basketball tournament, which resumes tonight at the Southern Philippines College covered court in Cagayan de Oro City.
Kuya Baba’s Pro-Audio charges relied heavily on the foursome of Tata Bajao, Allan Casiño, Michael Daigdigan and Tarotoy Remoto to beat Con-Air’s Alam Na, 100-92 the last time out.
Bajao’s off-the-board marksmanship netted him 30 points to go along with Casiño and Daigdigan’s 16 markers apiece plus Remoto’s 11-point contribution.
They simply overwhelmed the NMR-1 Gov’s choices despite equally-productive outputs from Tata Salera, 22, Charlie Butron, 20, Arvin Monterona, 19 and Pops Alcover, 18).
Against Romul’s power for the nightcap face-off, Baba’s Pro-Audio will be in for an uphill bout, however, as they have to deal with a team whose teamwork has long been polished from the backyard of the original Sat-Sun ballclub in Cagayan de Oro.
In fact, Romul’s Power outplayed the Jan Babiera-led Team Rex, 93-86 in their last outing with Jojo Lim, Gilbert Magdugo, Ulysses Romulo, Totsie Daitol and Gene Cabriana all finishing in twin-digit numbers.
“Honestly, kining Romul’s Power nilang Kuya Magdugo akong nakita nga threat sa liga kay walay bangag. Maningkamot lang `mi (the threat I see in Kuya Magdugo's Romul's Power is there are no loopholes. We will work hard),” said playing coach Popovich Baba, the club’s concurrent president.
Tonight’s triple-header matches start at 7:30 p.m. with Team Rex confronting Gov’s Con-Air in the curtain-raiser, followed by the Kuya Dad’z tussle with Kuya Lungay.
