BABA Pro Audio and Oki Doki Doc eliminated two of the strongest teams in the 2017 Green CdeO Eagles Inter-Colors Basketball Tournament crossover round last Thursday at the SPC covered courts.
Team Baba delivered the upset axe over elimination round leader Romuls Power 82-81, while Team Oki Doc pulled an 89-88 squeaker against no. 2 Rex Physical.
Baba and Oki Dok wrote dramatic victories after having their respective key players back in time for the crucial games.
Team Baba finally had their missing scoring machine JL Aquino playing in their line-up as they went on to score a slim win over the Romuls Power team.
Aquino finished 18 points for Baba, while Tarotoy Remoto and Michael Daigdigan added 16 and 14 points each respectively.
Inspired with Aquino’s presence, Baba surged a 24-16 lead at the close of the first quarter.
They continued to step on the gas as they stretched their highest lead of the game to 17 points at the end of the first half, 49-32.
Romuls Power rallied in the fourth quarter but Baba was already in control until the dying seconds to insure victory and face Oki Doc in the finals.
Marvin Neri lifted Oki Doc with 26 points, while come backing Waway Arocha chipped in 16 points.
Neri had made a special treat on his birthday night finishing with 14 points including four triples.
Scoreless in the previous outing, SunStar Cagayan de Oro sports editor Lynde Salgados finally had a huge contribution to Oki Doc’s win this time with 10 points all in second half.
