Bacolod has new OIC cop chief

SUPERINTENDENT Roderick Minong was relieved from his post as officer-in-charge (OIC) of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) effective Saturday, November 25.

He was succeeded by Senior Superintendent Francisco Ebreo, chief of the Regional Investigation and Detection Management Division (RIDMD) of Police Regional Office (PRO)-Western Visayas.

This was confirmed by Superintendent Gilbert Gorero, spokesperson of PRO-6, on Sunday.

Minong was deployed anew to the PRO-Western Visayas headquarters in Iloilo City to focus on supervising the Regional Public Safety Battalion, a unit which he concurrently headed while at the helm of the BCPO.

He served as OIC of Bacolod police for one month and 15 days.

Minong came in during the MassKara Festival after after Senior Superintendent Jack Wanky was relieved from his post as acting director of BCPO on the heels of the series of robbery hold-up incidents in the city.

Gorero said Ebreo assumed as BCPO chief in a concurrent capacity since he still heads the RIDMD.

Ebreo will remain at the BCPO until Mayor Evelio Leonardia has chosen a police official suited for the position of city police director, he added.

The candidates will be based from the list to be submitted to him by Chief Superintendent Cesar Binag, director of PRO-Western Visayas, to the mayor. (GYM)
