Bacolod legal officer: ‘Erring meat vendors to face charges’

BACOLOD City Legal Officer Joselito Bayatan said on Wednesday they will file cases against erring meat vendors who continue to sell “hot meat” in public markets.

Bayatan said he is waiting for the report of Task Force Botagoy for the filing of criminal complaints before the City Prosecutor’s Office.

On Tuesday, 44 kilos of double-dead meat was confiscated by operatives of Task Force Botagoy at the public market of Barangay Sum-ag.

Bayatan said selling of “hot meat” is a violation of a city ordinance as it endangers public health.

Rex Juplo, head of Task Force Botagoy, said that from November to December 6, a total of 134 kilos of “hot meat” were confiscated in various public markets.

The confiscated meat were burned and buried at the city’s slaughterhouse grounds.

On Sunday, 75 kilograms of “hot meat” were also seized in two separate operations at the public market of Barangay Granada.
