Bacolod, NegOcc police on full alert

THE Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) and Negros Occidental Provincial Police Office (Noppo) is now on full alert starting Monday for the observance of Holy Week.

Senior Superintendent Larry Decena, officer-in-charge of BCPO, and Senior Superintendent Milko Lirazan, acting director of Noppo, announced that policemen from their respective units will be deployed to churches, bus terminals and sea ports, and resorts to secure the safety of travelers and religious devotees.

Decena said the city police will intensify their visibility patrol and checkpoint operations to monitor the possible activities of criminals who will take advantage of the week-long vacation.

He said that he will also assign foot patrollers, and bike and motorcycle patrollers in different areas of Bacolod. Public assistance centers will also be set up near various areas of convergence.

Lirazan said he instructed all police chiefs in different cities and municipalities to intensify checkpoint and visibility patrol operations.

The police also advised the public to secure their residences before leaving for Lenten activities, and not to bring valuables when going to churches.
