THE Bacolod City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (Cadac) will hold the facilitators training seminar today for those who will handle the continuing community-based drug rehabilitation program (CBDRP).
Superintendent Levy Pangue, head of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) Investigation and Detection Management Unit, said Tuesday, November 7, that Cadac was tasked to handle the drug rehabilitation program to help the drug surrenderers.
He said they are now preparing to assist the second batch of the drug surrenderers with the total of 533 to undergo the CBDRP.
In May this year, 65 drug reformists completed the eight-week CBDRP activities facilitated by the Cadac.
The drug dependents were among those who voluntarily surrendered to the 10 police stations in Bacolod and endorsed to Cadac for rehabilitation.
Pangue said that since last year, Bacolod City has about 4,000 drug surrenderers and they are hopeful to accommodate them for the CBDRP.
“The CBDRP is a big help for our drug surrenderers to start a new life,” he said.
He added that they will tap the 65 drug reformists to assist the second batch of surrenderers.
The drug reformist will receive livelihood assistance under the Department of Social Services and Development (DSSD) and Public Employment Services Office (Peso).
Pangue said the City Government is facilitating the livelihood assistance for the first batch of the drug reformists.
The Cadac held its strategic planning meeting at the Bacolod Government Center yesterday.
Sally Abelarde, social welfare officer IV, said the meeting was attended by representatives from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, Department of the Interior and Local Government, National Bureau of Investigation, Department of Education, DSSD and BCPO.
She said they will consolidate their outputs for the 2018 budget proposal.
