Bacolod 'summer jobbers' to receive salary next week

BACOLOD City Public Employment Services Office (Peso) head Anthony Ayco said Monday, May 29, that the youth hired by the City for the Special Program for Employment of Students (Spes) will receive their salaries starting next week.

Ayco said they are waiting for the "summer jobbers" to submit their daily time records (DTR) to release their salaries.

Bacolod hired 1,800 youth for summer jobs.

Of the 1,800 given jobs, 155 will get 60 percent of their pay from the Department of Labor and Employment (Dole) and 40 percent, from the City Government. They will receive P200 per day for 22 days.

The remaining 1,645 young people will be paid fully by the City Government at P200 per day for 15 days.

Ayco said the Dole provided Bacolod only 155 instead of more than 1,000 slots because of the failure of the previous administration to comply with the liquidation requirements.

"To accommodate the students who are willing to participate in this year's summer job, the City Government hired 1,645 who will be paid using its fund," Ayco said.

The City-paid "summer jobbers" will end their contract within a week while the 155 with Dole will end theirs on June 2.

As soon as they submit the DTR, the Peso will facilitate the release of their salaries so they can use it for the opening of classes next month, Ayco said.

"The budget is now ready for release," he added.
