Bacolod traffic rerouting set for Christmas

Published on:

THE Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO)-Traffic Management Unit (TMU) will implement a traffic rerouting from December 16 to 31.

Superintendent Luisito Acebuche, head of BTAO, said on Wednesday the rerouting will be implemented from 4 p.m.to 7 p.m. during the period.

He said that all public utility jeepneys coming from the north plying Bata and Mandalagan-Libertad will pass San Juan Street and turn left to Rosario Street.

Only private vehicles will pass at San Sebastian Street.

Public utility vehicles from the south will pass Araneta Street and turn left at Gonzaga Street towards San Juan Street.

Acebuche said they will also implement a traffic adjustment along Barangay Mandalagan.

He added that about 30 traffic enforcers will be deployed at the downtown area.

In November, the Bacolod City Council passed a resolution urging the BTAO-TMU to come up with a traffic plan in preparation for the Christmas season.

The resolution, authored by Councilor Sonya Verdeflor, stated during Christmas season, shops, commercial establishments, and malls are full of people, and shoppers face various traffic problems which need the immediate attention of traffic enforcers.
