Baguio residents seek help in lagoon land mess

THE residents in Baguio City Camp lagoon are seeking the help of the City Council over irregularities in their owned lots.

The complainant, Susan Reynoso Joaquin, Fely Ocampo and Nora Torres, said they were the original allocatees set for the lots in the area, however, when they checked, lots allocated to them have already been titled.

Councilor Edgar Avila, who chairs the committee on lands, will hear the problem soon.

As per report from the City Buildings and Architecture Office, there are 141 structures illegally built within the three hectare area of the lagoon area covering four barangays, reserved by the City Government for city needs.

The residents are imploring to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources to stop accepting applications.

Joaquin, Ocampo and Tan’s concerns will be welcomed in the office of Avila who is awaiting their formal complaints in the land issue.

The residents claim there have been double or triple allocatees in the lagoon areas which muddles the issue of ownership with residents.

Councilor Leandro Yangot said the problem has been long drawn out with numerous complaints in the past.
