Balletcenter Cebu’s outreach program

BALLETCENTER Cebu’s (BCC) artistic directors Gregory Aaron (Mr. A) and international premier danseur Nicolas Pacaña (Tito Nic) are getting ready Summer Spectacular 2014 titled “Let’s Go To The Movies” on May 15, 16, 17 at Ayala Cinema One at 6 p.m.

Their students fondly call them Mr. A and Tito Nic. The two are professional ballet dancers, who are also the artistic directors of Atlanta Festive Ballet School and Ballet Company.

Pacaña arrived in Cebu March 28 from Atlanta, USA, where he choreographed Swan Lake, while Aaron recently tied up with seven barangays around the city for Summer Spectacular 2014, which will feature 350 students from different barangays and schools in Cebu.

This May, BCC will also send two of their students or scholars to Thailand. A partnership forged between BCC and the Russian Ballet School (RBS) in Thailand two years ago, in connection with BCC’s outreach program. Its goal is to provide jobs to their underprivileged students and scholars—a goat it is committed to fulfill for their scholars and students. It is a dream coming true for BCC’s Jush Anne Rocamora, 21, and John Rocamora, 22.

Last year the RBS hosted the visit of BCC’s team led by Aaron. He said: “Ballet Center is delighted to partner with the Russian Ballet School of Thailand. It’s an answer to our prayer that our dancers will see the fruit of their work realized by attaining jobs in the dance field.”

By 2015, more partnerships are on the way for Thailand, Vietnam and Malaysia. (PR)
