BROWN Academy of Music (BAM) held its show OPM Jam sa BAM at the Activity Center in Ayala Center Cebu last Sept. 23. The show was the school’s tribute to Original Pilipino Music and the song selections included Bisaya, Tagalog and English ranging from classics such as Ryan Cayabyab’s “Da Coconut Nut” and Freddie Aguilar’s “Anak” to current hits by Sarah Geronimo, Yeng Constentino, Gary Valenciano, and many more.

OPM Jam sa BAM featured over 90 students enrolled at BAM from June through September ranging from four years old up through adults. Thirteen faculty members also performed during the show and even BAM owners Anna Fegi-Brown and Adam Brown joined the students during the closing of the show.

In addition to the voice and instrument students on stage, BAM offered classes for dance and the students also performed throughout the show. The dance classes are taught by Monica Orellano from the Knapsack Dancers. The dance classes were added to the school’s offerings this past summer by request of BAM students and parents and have become a permanent part of the school’s curriculum.

During the months of June through September, BAM also held various workshops to give additional learning opportunities for its students. On July 29, BAM was the local host for a contemporary a cappella vocal workshop taught by the legendary Maestro Ryan Cayabyab. In the months of August and September, BAM also hosted a songwriting course taught by award-winning composer, producer, and musical director Jude Gitamondoc. (PR)
