Bambi: Phividec to drive growth in Misamis Oriental

Misamis Oriental Governor Yevgeny Vincente "Bambi" Emano said he is hopeful that more investors will invest in the province, particularly at the Phividec Industrial Authority which, he said, has helped improve the economic situation of the province since it started 43 years ago.

Speaking at the 43rd anniversary of Phividec on August 10, Emano congratulated and thanked Phividec for bringing economic opportunities especially for residents in the municipalities of Villanueva, Tagoloan and surrounding towns.

Emano said he also looks forward to a good relationship with the Phividec's new administration.

Newly-appointed Phividec chief executive officer Franklin Quijano had said in an earlier interview that he is confident that investors would find relocating to Misamis Oriental attractive.

"Dili lang employment, commodities pud, ang hinimo sa Phividec muabot pud sa mga residente. Ako nagtuo, for us to be a place for investment, kinahanglan na dunay pagtuo sa kaugalingon, faith in ourselves," the former Iligan mayor said in a radio interview.

"Daghan nay gapanawag kay naay gusto mag-locate, pero ato sa nga tun-an ang international condition sa manufacturing market, naay uban na dili na gusto sa ubang nasud, gusto na mubalhin sa Pilipinas, so we will study all of this," Quijano said.

The former Iligan City mayor was appointed to head Phividec on July 14.

Quijano received two appointments, as administrator and chief executive officer of the Philippine Veterans Investment Development Corporation-Industrial Authority and as a member of the board of directors of the same institution.
