Barok’s ‘confidant,’ 3 others nabbed in Danao

AN ALLEGED trusted associate of detained "drug lord" Alvaro "Barok" Alvaro and three other drug personalities were caught in a series of drug busts in Danao City, Cebu.

Chief Inspector Gerard Ace Pelare, the city police commander, identified Alvaro's "closest confidant" as Ronilo "Esboy" Nuñez, who had been listed as the number one high value target of Danao City Police Station.

Nuñez was allegedly involved in a series of killings of pushers who were from other groups.

His name surfaced in robbery incidents in Danao City and neighboring towns.

Another arrested pusher was Arvin Gacrama Giango. Yance Oliverio eluded arrest.

Alleged users Roy Basco Cacanog and Arnel Jalang Densing were caught.

The operations were carried out in the villages of Poblacion, Maslog, and Looc past 11 p.m. Thursday, January 4, and ended around 4 a.m. Friday, January 5.

Anti-narcotics personnel seized 29 small and three medium packs of white crystalline substance believed to be methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as “shabu,” from the suspects.

The shabu weighed at 16.45 grams with a Dangerous Drugs Board value of P194,110.

Nuñez yielded a .45 pistol, which will be subjected to a ballistic examination to determine if it was used in previous homicide incidents.

Suspects will be facing complaints for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (KAL/SunStar Cebu)
