Bat campaign on Mooncake Festival

ELEVATED Battitude, a campaign for the promotion of the Bat Colony, a Guinness record holder in the island Garden City of Samal, will be launched on September 26.

Norma Monfort of the Monfort Bat Cave & Conservation Foundation Inc. said, “This campaign is set to raise the level or awareness, on how important Bats really are and that they are very gentle creatures.”

This campaign is supported by the Rotary Club of South Davao and is in coordination with the City Chinatown Development Council.

A Moon Cake Festival Night Run for Peace, Love and Awareness will be held on the launching of the campaign. Participants can join either the 7-kilometer (7k) or 3k distance, which will start by 8 p.m. and 8:15 p.m., respectively.

Mama Bat also mentioned that the night fun run will also be one way for the participants to be aware of how important bats are in our ecosystem and since this is the third time they held such event.

They are targeting to double the number of participants, from 1,500 to more than 3,000.

Prizes will be given at the end of the event.

Other activities include a mini-musical rally between the junction of Lapu-Lapu/Chavez and D. Suazo Streets, exhibition of Davao skateboarders and other street performances.

Battiange Night Flea Market will also be enjoyed by everyone on the launching of the campaign. (Jerrick A. Luy/AdDU Intern)
