POLICEMEN from various units in Western Visayas, including Bacolod City, were conferred the Medalya ng Kagalingan of the PNP Merit Medals by police regional director, Chief Supt. Agrimero Cruz, Jr. recently.
Cruz encouraged the PNP members in the region to continue their zeal in performing their best in every endeavor and task, especially in keeping the peace and maintaining order in the community.
He also stressed that the PNP is always looking for the morale and welfare of its personnel by giving appropriate awards in every feat of police officers, but swift in giving punishments/sanctions to erring PNP personnel.
The Medalya ng Papuri (PNP Commendation Medal) were given to members of City Anti-Illegal Drugs Operations Task Group, Bacolod City Police Office, for the conduct of a buy-bust operation on June 10, 2013 which resulted in the arrest of Raquel Young at Purok Datiles, Brgy.
Handumanan, Bacolod City for violation of sections 5 and 11, Article II, of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The awardees were acting city director Senior Supt. Edgardo Ordaniel, Senior Insp. Neil Exaltado, PO3s Claro Gordoncillo Jr. and Rey Villanueva, PO2s Ana Rose Espolong, Ivan Inoperio, Tony Hechanova and Dave Dapat.
Personnel of the Lemery Municipal Police Station in Iloilo also received the medals for the arrest of Mario Caborubias, a suspect in a shooting in Brgy. Anabo, in Lemery, which resulted in the death of John Apura and Rodel Lope, and the wounding of Jose Lito Calves.
The gunman was also charged with violation of Republic Act 8294, or illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, and for violating Republic Act 9516 and Commission on Elections Resolution No. 9561-A, or the gun ban.
The awardees were Insp. Asencion Ortizo, PO3 Fermin Labordo, PO3 Ariel Aragona, PO1 Mark Gil Palma, and PO1 Rowell Listano.
The Medalya ng Papuri or the PNP Commendation Medal were also given to members of the Guimaras Police Provincial Office-Special Operations Group, Iloilo Provincial Intelligence Branch and Sta. Barbara Municipal Police Station, Iloilo Provincial Office who apprehended Wesleyan Zarate on June 19, 2013.
Zarate is on top of the list of drug personalities in Guimaras. He was collared in Brgy. Duyan-duyan, Santa Barbara, Iloilo by virtue of a warrant of arrest for violation of Section 5, Article II of R.A. 9165.
The awardees were Insp. Rolando Arano, Insp. Jose Nemias Pamplona, SPO4 Maximo Valencia, SPO2s Rudy Gepanaga and Jose Nelio Sabran, PO3 Efraim Octaviano, PO2s Jesus Galleron, John Philip Daguno, and Ediben Jacildo, Jr., and PO1s Nilo Gamboa, Arnel Failanga and Dino Villaceran.
