Beauties at Tierra Alta

THE magnificent looking Tierra Alta Residential Resort at Valencia, Negros Oriental was even made more glamorous after 19 finalists of the ongoing Mutya ng Pilipinas in Negros Island Region graced its concrete runway in a classy presentation of swimwears.

Wearing masterfully the crafted one and two pieces cuts of renowned stylist and pageant critic Domz Ramos of DR Swim, the mutyas proved their level of sophistication and confidence in their shapes while in high heels.

It can be recalled that Domz Ramos is behind the showstopper terno fashion show in Vigan last Miss Universe as head stylist. At the same time, he juggles between producing pageant swim wears in many parts of the country and being among the official swimwear producers of Binibining Pilipinas for the past two years.

One after the other, the bets flaunted their curves while their supporters cheering relentlessly on the sides. The kickoff party also featured the music of Bacolod's homegrown reggae masters, Cali Island. Fans and onlookers alike groove as they pulled off a number of OPM classics infused with the vibrancy of reggae and the highly energetic trumpet beat which hyped the contestants to sashay, if not danced, their way to meet the judges.

Side by side with Cali's entertaining set was DJ Van'Ex who displayed his techno infused number with relatable chart hits. More than well enough, his choices proved that he is a bankable artist, with followers spanning from old and the new wave party goers.

The Mutya ng Pilipinas kickoff party is a good start for the week long preliminaries until its culmination on June 23, 7 p.m. at L’ Fisher Hotel for its Finals Night. A press presentation is slated alongside with BongBong's Piaya Night in their new high end facility in La Carlota City and a Heritage and Culture Day in Isabela town, among other activities.

Reigning Mutya ng Pilipinas-NIR Renelyn Deguit of Ayungon town will pass on the crown to her successor. Official representatives are from La Carlota, Murcia, Isabela, Bacolod, Hinobaan, Oriental Negros, Sagay, Manjuyod, Dumaguete City and Salvador Benedicto, to name a few.

It can be recalled how Renelyn, dubbed as the "Kangkong Girl" of NIR, caught the attention of bloggers and media in Manila after sharing her struggles in life. To note, she was an early favorite because of her exotic look and laid back, charming personality.

Mutya champions beauty tourism and highlights the effective quantitave metrics of tourism promotion through a beauty pageant that has established its brand as a familiar name in Philippine pageantry.
