Becoming party folks

Published on

SO THERE are party folks and there are those who are a bit anti-social who would rather opt to stay at home and relax. Scratch out that notion since there will always be an exemption to anything.

Party folks or not, there will always be that day in a year where everyone anticipates to be a part of a gathering for the purpose of merriment, thanksgiving and unity.

Christmas, it seemed, always has a way of transforming everyone into a jolly and lively creature. Not even Ebenezer Scrooge could resist the urge to party and become merry during this season.

It is that time of the year when one has to get out of the shell and show off other skills or just pure confidence if you’re devoid of the former (lol… I’m talking about department dance presentations where everyone is required to shake it yow!).

SunStar Davao, which is normally perceived to be composed of individuals operating in the newsroom just to deliver news to the region, just hit it all out in a Hawaiian-themed Christmas party at the Café Uno at the Waterfront Insular Hotel in Davao City Saturday night.

Everyone was clad in floral attire that just brightened up the place including their flower props that dangles from their necks and wrists, but nothing would beat the loveliest accessory of all - their genuine smiles.

The event was even made special with the presence of the big boss, SunStar Publishing Inc. President Gina Atienza, who had really flown from Cebu to Davao City just to attend the celebration. What was even greater was to see the other bosses, SunStar Davao’s Editor-in-chief Stella Estremera and Sports Editor Marriane Saberon-Abalayan, hit the dance floor with the folks from the editorial team.

Dudes from the production department also went “macho” with their all-men dance presentation that just made everyone smile. But the General and Admin and the Marketing folks also did not fail to amaze with their colorful attires and great and fun dance presentation.

Of course, all the good deeds did not prosper for nothing as the company turned Santa-like by accounting everyone’s outstanding and excellent performances in delivering their services by acknowledging their acts through tokens and cash gifts. Being good is indeed a good investment, I should say.

Lucky employees also went home with brand new laptop, refrigerator, flat screen TV and other goodies and appliances during the raffle. Everyone also did not go home empty-handed as there were also door prizes, aside from the traditional exchange of gifts.

But if there is one thing that would make the event memorable and special, it will always be the intangible things-the smiles, the fun and kind words, among the other much good stuff that one would not trade for anything else and these are the most important things.

Merry Christmas! (winks)
