BACOLOD'S sensational junior player Samjosef Belangel scattered 19 points, hauled nine rebounds, stole the ball thrice, and assisted three times to lead Ateneo de Manila University in a 69-53 win over De La Salle Zobel (DLSZ) in the UAAP race for the Final Four.

Dave Ildefonso added 15 points and 13 rebounds as the Blue Eaglets ousted the La Sallians, spearheaded by Franz Diaz’s 13 markers.

Admu beat DLSZ 15-8 in total assists and 15-3 in fastbreak points while dominating the first three quarters 17-11, 43-29, 55-40 , in a report through e-mail by Sammy Dave Belangel.

The younger Belangel started his basketball journey with little-known Eliakim Learning School in his primary days, was recruited by University of St. La Salle, transferred to Iloilo's St. Joseph's Academy and returned to Bacolod Tay Tung High School to win the Batang Pinoy 3-on-3 national championships held in Bacolod.

The son of Sammy and Mayet Rasmo Belangel traveled to the US twice before being acquired by Admu leaving a gap in BTTHS offensive rotation under his uncle coach Mark Belangel.(HGD)
