Best antidote in worrying

WORRYING can happen to anybody. It is a response to the fear of the unknown, a real threat or an incoming problem that seems to be huge and very disturbing.

The vast school responsibilities, untamed thoughts, work demands and deep personal issues are just among the pile of things that switch on our “worrying thoughts.”

But can we command ourselves to stop worrying? Can we switch it off so we may focus on optimistic thinking instead? How do we clear our minds and begin to reduce our worries when we live in a world which we knew is never a safe place?

Welcome Uncertainty. Life is full of uncertainties and it has no perfect endings. Life is living without knowing what will come next. With this notion, we must embrace that we cannot control things – the beginning, the middle, and the end. Discover the beauty of situations we do not expect because the truth is that there is no cure to uncertainty. Worrying can kill our present and future.

Destroy Negativity. Our power is not enough to control how much we think. Our present unpleasant situation sometimes controls our mind and our every move and decision. But our God can change everything in a snap! Call on Him, believe that God is our shelter and he will defend us without fail. Remember that the more we pray, the less we panic. Our faith will remove our worries.

Think differently. We need to set our minds that there is no benefit in worrying too much. If we were not able to sleep for two days because we were worrying a lot about a missing report and it turned out that we just misplaced it and found it after three days, then we have been so cruel and unjust to our sleeping needs. We should have been calm and think positively, and must have not wasted some good sleeping times.

Speak differently. There is a creative power in speaking right to free ourselves from worries. Use words that evokes strengths, happiness, and fulfillment. Everything that comes out from our mouths can affect our disposition in lives. It is best to practice predominantly positive self-talk because if you speak negatively, it is like you are inviting yourself to worry. Indeed, words can corrupt our positive thinking.

Focus on things you can change. We should let go of our fruitless worries and put our energy on what is certain. Stop anticipating mistakes or any troubles. Instead, live a life that nurtures because life is too short to worry. Hate can transform to love. Worrying can change to faith in God. After all, out of the 100 percent worries we have, only seven percent will come true.

So, worry no more. It is foolishness to worry about things that are not yet happening. We might have been feeling hopeless to situations that will never come. We should be mindful only of the present. Have faith in the miracles of God. Stop condemning the power of the Divine Wisdom and the Divine Mercy. Pray and believe in God – it’s the best antidote in worrying!
