BI arrests 'person of interest' in Jee Ick-Joo kidnap-slay

OPERATIVES from the Bureau of Immigration (BI) arrested Tuesday a South Korean fugitive believed to be involved in the killing of Jee Ick-Joo.

Hoon Yoo also known as Edward Yoo Hoon was arrested by BI's Fugitive Search Unit in Forest St., Carmenville Subdivision, Angeles City in Pampanga.

Yoo, 33, is a person of interest currently under investigation by the Philippine National Police Anti Kidnapping Group (PNP-AKG) and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) for his supposed involvement in Jee's abduction and killing last October 18.

He was one of the subjects in the Immigration Lookout Bulletin Order (ILBO) issued by Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II last January 28, 2017.

It was not known, however, why he became a person of interest in Jee's murder.

The BI said Hoon will be detained at the BI Warden Facility in Bicutan, Taguig.

Jee was killed inside the PNP headquarters in Quezon City after he was abducted in his house in Angeles, Pampanga by policemen in guise of a legitimate anti-drug operation.

The policemen allegedly involved in his abduction and eventual killing including former anti-narcotics operatives Superintendent Rafael Dumlao III, SPO4 Roy Villegas and SPO3 Ricky Sta. Isabel are now facing charges for kidnapping and homicide before the Regional Trial Court in Angeles City, Pampanga. (SunStar Philippines)
