‘Big Boom sa Sugbo’ opens at SRP

CEBU City’s ultimate fantasy land "Big Boom sa Sugbo" officially opened around 6 p.m. on Friday, December 8, at the South Road Properties.

He said that Cebuanos will expect a bigger, better, and different carnival experience, adding that people can expect reasonable prices and safe carnival rides.

“We hope nga ang Paps maka-hatag gyud og real kasadya. Naka bisita ko, gwapo kaayong mga rides. It’s different from last year. We tried to ask 'Manny' for rides and sports nga i-combine ngara para naay real Kasadya gyud (We hope that Paps will provide a real cheer. I visited the area, there were amazing rides. It’s different from last year. We tried to ask 'Manny' to combine rides and sports to give joy),” Councilor Eugenio Gabuya Jr. said.

The amusement park will feature 30 modern recreational amenities, including bob and bee ride for kids, one vikings for kids and another for adults, bumper boat rides, spider, mad birds, two ferries wheels, two pirate ships, airplane, moon rocket ship, dragon boat, horror ride, imported UFO ride, bump cars, astroliner, galaxy, two giant inflatables (dry and wet), among others.

Two major mascots, Dora and Mickey Mouse, will also entertain the event live.

The theme park also features Sugbo Mercado, 25 barbecue stalls, beer plaza, special items from Mindanao, trade exhibits and weekly entertainment on big events, where one of the performers is Cebuano band Missing Filemon.

For the opening on Friday, about 200 orphans from the Cebu City Community Scout Youth Guidance Center were treated to free food and rides.

Officials from Paps said all rides were inspected by a licensed mechanical and electrical engineers.

The inspection started last Tuesday, December 5.

Gabuya said the Cebu City Police Office will be in charge of the place’s security.

Marshalls and bouncers will be deployed and at least eight closed-circuit television units were installed in the area.

The entrance fee of the carnival ranges from P20 on weekdays and P25 on weekends or holidays, including Christmas Day.
