Big sale, entertainment at SM Lanang

THERE is so much to see and do every time there is a mall-wide sale going on, and for someone who is living on a tight budget, it is actually a breath of fresh air.

Thanks to Ms Acey of SM Lanang Premier who for a quick moment become my shopping buddy at SM's 3-Day sale. Don't ask what we purchased, but it was worth the buy.

SM City Davao and SM Lanang Premier gave Dabawenyos a weekend of fun, great sale (up to 70percent off), entertainment and best buys. Both SM stores were transformed into a festive path of good luck and fortune, with the Chinese Street Festival Bazaar decorated with lanterns, money trees, and lucky scrolls to welcome the Year of the Horse.

The Chinese New Year celebration at SM Davao featured specialty stalls selling Chinese products, food as well as information and services.

I have no intention of buying anything but the specialty store at the bazaar caught my attention -- the woman in charge was very accommodating, walk me through the process of reawakening my love for plants, which then I started mentally decorating my nursery, which lead me to buy a thyme plant as a head start.

A Lion and Dragon Dance welcomed shoppers, at 10 a.m., followed by an assortment of performances and entertainment which included Feng Shui consultation with Richard Yu.

Nobody can get a party started like a great DJ. And DJ's Wacky Masbad, Torch and Ace Ramos know how to tickle the wild crowd, with expanded musical catalogs during the Elements: Sonic Escalation Party at SM Lanang Premier Fountain Court together with Manic Nightnings and Tribu Fire Dancers.

The party did rock out the night, their playlist over fizzing with a multitude of party favorites, both old and new, which include Wreaking Ball segues to intro part of Queen’s We Will Rock You, Turn Down for What, I Don't Care and so much more.

Threading your way through a line of people that night can cause a lot of stress. The crowd went wild, and in unified motion, all shouted, up on their feet and waving their arms and I bet, bodies were definitely sore the next day from head banging and endless dancing.

The Great 3-Day Sale capped off with a live performance of the Pinoy rock band Callalily with Kean Cipriano, Tatsi Jamnague, Aaron Ricafrente and Lemuel Belaro. As expected girls went wild over Kean, some sneaked their way to the backstage just to get a glimpse of the lead vocalist. And perhaps, it was indeed good news to their fans, as they promoted their album "Flower Power" and their upcoming Davao concert this March 7 at Matina Town Square.
