Biggest construction show opens in Davao

THE PhilConstruct Mindanao 2016, the biggest construction show on the island opens Friday and runs until September 11 at the SMX Convention Center, Lanang, Davao City.

The three-day event will feature more than 100 companies carrying top brands in building materials and construction equipment.

“Now is the right time to prioritize the projects in rural areas and other urban cities aside from Metro Manila. Davao has underlying potential to accommodate major PPP project developments, which can be put into action under the new administration,” Ramon Allado, Event Chairman for PhilConstruct Mindanao said.

Davao City, as a one of the fastest growing cities in the country serves as the main trade, commerce, and industry center of Mindanao.

The Davao Region where the city belongs is nearer the radar of investors as reflected in the Board of Investments – Mindanao data indicating that it topped with the highest number of approved projects registering a combined value of P6.335 billion from eight projects.

“As a very progressive city, Davao is a key location for PhilConstruct to aid in the growing demand for infrastructure developments and renovations,” Allado said.

“From its conception in 2010, the show has been constantly changing and growing to accommodate more companies to exhibit and trade buyers to visit and network with some of the biggest and most trusted brands in the industry,” he added.

“For next few years, our country is to experience the “Golden age of Infra” as the present government vows to accelerate infra spending from 5 percent to 7 percent of the Growth Domestic Product,” Dante Abando, president of PhilConstruct, for his part said, adding that this exciting prospect is ultimately a great opportunity for the industry to strive even harder for more quality products and services worthy of showcasing not only here but also abroad.

“As the 7th Philconstruct Mindanao kicks off to continue its magnificent role as an excellent platform for business, I encourage everyone to make the most out of this three-day venture by showcasing the best that you can offer,” the president added.

This second leg of the PhilConstruct series will be held together with the one and only heating & ventilating expo in the region – HVAC/R Mindanao. The organizers also announced that this year’s Technoforum Mindanao – a series of technical seminars and workshop, will be hosting the Authorized Managing Officers Seminar on September 8 to 9 and the Association of Carriers and Equipment Lessors’ Seminar on September 10 to 11.

Technoforum serves as a knowledge-sharing platform for industry leaders and professionals to share their expertise and the best practices.

Last year, PhilConstruct Mindanao set a new record as it welcomed a total of 117 companies which networked to 9,580 trade visitors during its three-day event held last September 2015.

The event is organized by PhilConstruct Events, Exhibitions and Conferences Corp, co-organized by Association of Carriers and Equipment Lessors, Inc., Davao Constructors Association Center, Inc., Philippine Constructors Association, Inc, Philippine Society of Ventilating, Air-conditioning and Refrigerating Engineering, Inc and event managed by Globalink.
