Biscom top corporate tax payer in Negros Occidental

THE Binalbagan-Isabela Sugar Company (Biscom) based in Binalbagan, Negros Occidental was the top corporate real property tax (RPT) payer in the province for 2016, reports from the Office of the Provincial Treasurer (OPT) showed.

The OPT reported that the sugar mill in the southern Negros Occidental has total gross tax of almost P22 million last year.

It was followed by Tanduay Distillers Inc. in Murcia with paid tax amounting to P6.16 million; Manapla Sun Power Development in Manapla, P5.93 million; Asian Alcohol Corp. in Pulupandan, P5.28 million; and ML Agricultural Development Corp. in Murcia, P1.57 million.

Also in the top 10 were Abello Rafael and Maria Antonia in Isabela, P1.54 million; Menchaca Integrated Agricultural in Calatrava, P1.30 million; Jalandoni Kanlaon Farms in Manapla, P1.23 million; Victorias Milling Company also in Manapla, P1.13 million; and Total Bulk Corp. in Pulupandan, P871, 540.

Data obtained by SunStar Bacolod further showed that for the individual tax payer category, Mildred San Martin and Javellana Fausto of Valladolid ranked first with tax worth almost P1.08 million.

Included in the top five were Antonio Abello of Moises Padilla, P498,692; Ramon Gustilo of Manapla, P491,049; Rocky Bedonia of Toboso, P462,742; and Asuncion Sabino of E.B. Magalona, P452,478.

Other top individual tax payers in the province included Francisco Maravilla of E.B Magalona with gross tax worth P445,931; Teodorico Castillo Jr. of Salvador Benedicto, P386,860; Ramon Silverio of Hinigaran, P353,542; Ramon Hilado of Murcia, P349,028; and Uy King Poe and Johnson Uy of Calatrava, P326,825.

Provincial Treasurer Nilda Generoso asked for further cooperation from individual and corporate tax payers in the province by paying their taxes promptly and righteously.

“They should realize that paying their taxes regularly will also result to efficient delivery of government services to the public that will benefit especially those in the marginalized sector,” Generoso said.

Earlier, the OPT reported that of the 19 municipalities covered by the provincial government in terms of RPT collection, Manapla ranked first after posting the highest collection efficiency rate of almost 104 percent.

With a collection target of P26.78 million in 2016, Manapla has an actual collection of almost P27.76 million.

It was followed by Binalbagan with a collection efficiency of 94.24 percent; Murcia, 92.91 percent; La Castellana, 82.42 percent; and Hinigaran, 80.15 percent.

For all 19 municipalities, the provincial government’s actual RPT collection reached almost P342 million, or 69.81 percent of the P489-million target last year.
