Blue alert up in Davao for Holy Week

THE Office of Civil Defense (OCD)-Davao raised a blue alert for emergency preparations for Holy Week.

“The OCD-Regional Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (RDRRMC) is on blue alert status para sa (for) Semana Santa Observance 2017 pati lahat ng (including all) provincial, cities and municipality DRRMCs natin sa whole region,” OCD-Davao spokesperson Mc Adrian Cubero said Wednesday, April 12.

Blue alert means primary or lead personnel from the OCD, complemented by selected NDRRMC member agencies, shall render duty at the NDRRMOC on a 24hour basis.

He added that OCD personnel are ready and their operation center is monitoring 24/7 in anticipation of untoward incidents that may arise from the exodus of people from and in different places in the region.

The office have also intensified their coordination with other member-agencies of the RDRRMC-Davao including law enforcers particularly in areas of convergence like churches where the Catholic devotees are expected to converge.

The OCD-Davao advised the public to be vigilant and to take care of themselves.

“Sumunod sa mga patakaran especially sa mga activities ngayong semana santa. ‘Wag din kalimutang maging mapagmasid at always magdala ng tubig para maiwasan ang dehydration (Follow the rules especially on activates relating to Holy Week. Be vigilant),” he said.

Cubero also advised the public to bring umbrellas or anything that can protect them against the heat of the sun as well.

If any untoward incident occurs, he said, the public should remain calm and call the authorities to address their concern.
