Bokod folk help in crime prevention

THE support of the community in combating crime in the Municipality of Bokod has helped maintain peace.

Bokod Municipal Police Station Chief Senior Inspector Vicente Tamid-ay said, "Since the municipality covers 10 Barangays with a population of close to 14,500, it is the members of the Barangay Peace and Order Council who acts as our first responders while informing us of the crimes being committed in their area of responsibility for us to immediately respond."

The Bokod Municipal Police Station has 31 personnel, 4 of which are assigned to the women and children's desk and family affairs.

"Although having only 31 personnel, we still comply with the 75 percent presence of our men who are all on a 24 hour duty or 23 personnel on duty at any given time to respond to any reported crimes", the Police Chief explained.

In its revised record of cases, Bokod registered physical injury as the leading crimes committed in 2016 but reduced this year.

Although there were no cases of rape filed last year, Bokod MPS recorded 2 cases for 2017 which is the major focus of concern now of their Office.

Robbery listed a case this year as to no cases last year, theft had 2 cases this year compared to a case last year, a murder case for this year as to none last year, no homicide cases for both years, and a car napping case filed last year as to none for 2017.

Tamid-ay added that "Due to the trainings we have given to the members of the BPOC's on how to respond to crimes and the protocols to follow while making an apprehension while awaiting our responding police, the commission of crimes can now be prevented by our force multipliers."
