Boracay within reach

FOR most of us, travel bucket list can’t be summed up without the famous, Boracay Island.

It is everyone’s dream to set foot on its white, powdery sand. It is everyone’s dream to go bar hopping and enjoy its youthful night life. And it is but a dream to witness the beautiful, dramatic sunset in Boracay while winding up and feeling the cool sea breeze.

For years, it remained as just a dream especially to Mindanawons.

The reason? Connectivity.

Those who would want to visit the island find going to Boracay very hassle because one has to pass through multiple airports just to get there. Not to mention the higher travel costs.

But the travel landscape (to Boracay) is better now, thanks to AirAsia- Philippines for opening a daily direct flight between Davao City and Boracay via Caticlan in Malay, Aklan.

Last April 22, the world’s best low cost carrier began servicing new routes from and to Davao-Caticlan/Boracay. It also inaugurated flights to and from three other summer destinations: Clark, Palawan, and Cebu.

With this development, chasing wonders was made easier and more fun.

It was, indeed, a dream #chasingwonder experience flying with the inaugural flight of AirAsia to Caticlan.

On board, we were served with Santan Combo: Thai Green Curry with rice, AirAsia’s signature hot meal. It is a fragrant and creamy dish enabling one to taste the Asian flavor.

The travel time was just an hour and half; it was just like going to Tagum City from Davao. That’s quick.

Apart from the easy access to Boracay offered by the airline, more tourists can be expected to visit Davao City from Aklan and three other tourism points.
