Bumba riders top 2nd Juan Race for Peace

TEAM Bumba bagged the title of the 230-kilometer 2nd Juan Race for Peace held in an out-and-back course from Davao City over the weekend.

Team Bumba, a selection of riders from Davao City and General Santos City, was composed of Nikko Tapao, Herder Madero and Rebudin Bayamban.

Bumba checked in at 17 hours, 18 minutes and 20 seconds over next two finishers Team Lutayan Cyclers Club of Sultan Kudarat (17:18:30) and Team Cycleline of Butuan City (17:25:27).

Davao City's very own Team Ginrich (17:38.2) was fourth in the bikefest presented by Radyo ni Juan in partnership with Philcycling Davao.

Meanwhile, Tapao, the son of former Inday Sara Cycling team member Daniel Tapao, also clinched the 21-under title over Paulo Ferfas of Team Luyatan and Karl Angelo Losaria who settled for the next two spots. The latter was also hailed as youngest finisher.

Jade Lopez, who was hailed as the King of the Mountain, annexed the elite category title against Ranlyn Maglantay and Herder Madero who placed second and third, respectively.

Philcycling Deputy Secretary-General Salvador Paholio, in a Facebook chat with SunStar Davao, thanked people behind the successful event including Radyo ni Juan under the supervision of Dodong Solis.

“Without them this race wouldn't be possible,” Paholio said.

He also thanked the Philcyling technical officials, Dapoba, Terrain Challlenger 611, Scuba, SM Lanang bikers and all participants.
