WHEN the sex scandal involving allegedly the Kapatid newscaster and TV host Paolo Bediones broke at the start of this week, a few netizens have some difficulty believing that it's really him on the photo and video which immediately went viral in the social networking sites, particularly on Facebook.
Some sources have revealed that the said sex video, which is about seven minutes in length, is also being shared through online storage sites like Mediafire.
While some are certain that it's really Bediones in the sex scandal, there are still some who couldn't believe it and refused to accept it at face value. As I went over some posts and comments about this hullaballoo, majority of the netizens were saying that "it's difficult to believe that a man like Bediones keeps a sex video because of his goody-goody image". Another said that getting a video while in an intimate situation is a manifestation of that person's "narcissistic stance", something which they never expected from someone like Bediones.
Meanwhile, a friend on Facebook even jokingly commented that the release of the video could be plotted by the allies of the Aquino administration to veer the public's attention away from the SONA last Monday. Yes, this may sound silly but this definitely made me laugh.
Anyway, prior to P-Noy communicating his administration's accomplishments for the past year, my FB newsfeed was already flooded with status updates relative to the sex scandal which was actually the ultimate reason why I got curious about the issue.
Honestly, I wasn't able to watch the video as I couldn't find a link that features it. What I saw was just the photo which showed a man who really looks Bediones being covered by a woman (to which no face of her was revealed) in an intimate position. Thus, basing on it, I could say that Bediones is definitely the one on the said sex scandal photo.
TV5 backs Bediones
Amidst the issue confronting Bediones, his mother network has remained on his side.
In a statement issued by TV5, it said that "the recent issue involving our news anchor, Paolo Bediones, on social media is a purely personal and private matter in which TV5 has no involvement or desire to intrude."
Furthermore, the network elaborated that "we accord our employees and talents all respect that are due them for their privacy and personal action or decision. We disapprove strongly the malicious and wanton publication of the video, an act that clearly violates pertinent cybercrime laws."
"We firmly express our support for our anchor Paolo Bediones in the face of a controversy that represents nothing more than an attempt to smear his reputation."
Where is Bediones now?
As of this writing, Bediones hasn't issued any statement yet in response to this controversy. Everyone right now is waiting for his words.
