Bzzzzz: Who’ll survive Evasco - go fight?

BETTING is going on as to who will survive in a reported “power struggle” between Cabinet Secretary Leoncio Evasco and Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go, special assistant and communist who heads the Presidential Management Staff.

Evasco, 73, is former mayor, priest, communist and NPA, chief of staff to the then Davao City mayor.

Go, 34 this June, has worked as Duterte’s all-around aide, since 1998. He goes wherever Duterte goes, since way back to those years when the boss shuttled from wife to girl friend/s.

Maybe both Evasco and Go will survive, if they can work for Duterte without coming to blows or trading gunshots.

‘Inordinate delay’

Here’s one case in which Sandiganbayan has refused to throw out the civil cases, disagreeing with the movant’s basis: inordinate delay.

Businessman and alleged Ferdinand Marcos crony Danding Cojuangco lost this round when the anti-graft court denied his motion to throw out three of eight cases involving ill-gotten wealth of Marcos Sr.

No excessive delay because Cojuangco himself caused the delay: in two civil cases, it took him 12 years to file a motion to reconsider an adverse ruling in 2002.

Bridge inaugural

People who still ask why former mayor Mike Rama, Vice Mayor Edgar Labella and Councilor Joy Pesquera were the people who inaugurated a bridge in Barangay Buot, Cebu City (last April 15). A City Hall watcher said the project was conceived and started while Rama was still mayor.

Maybe Rama was just a guest but, the way the photo showed, Rama was the star, not Labella who was the highest official present.

But did Rama win in Buot in the last election?
