Cajeras, Asuela pocket Sipalay chessfest titles

JAMON CAJERAS scored 5.5 points to rule the 15 and Under category while Ellan Asuela registered 5.5 points to emerge champion in the Rapid Chess Open Category of the just-concluded Sipalay ChessFest.

Cajeras took home P5,000 alongside a trophy and a medal while Asuela pocketed P10,000 together with a medal and a trophy.

Completing the top 10 were Clark Ken Pelione, Adrian Amor de la Luna, Kenneth Allen Ballo-allo, Alfonso Louis Olendo, Christian Pelione, Jannica Freyan Maric Llena, Karl Albert Alvaran, Jose Charles Montalvo and Karl Patrick Bardinas.

The second and third placers took home P4,000 and P3,000, respectively, with a trophy and medal each while consolation prizes included fourth place (P2,000), fifth (P1,000), sixth (P800), seventh (P700) while eighth (P600), and ninth and 10th placers received P500 each.

For special awards, the Best 10 Under was Louie Nerio while Jamelin Ruth Lim was Best 12 Under, Adam Noah Belano wa Best 14 Under, and Aliah Grace Belano was the Top Female. They all received P500 each.

Completing the Top 10 for the Open division were Danny Maerks Mangao, Eric Abanco, Ric raymund de la Peña, Ted Ian Montoyo, Felix Gonzales, Marvin Ting, Jerich Cajeras, Joseph Navarra and Sonny Pasco.

The second and third placers received P8,000 and P6,000, respectively, with a trophy and medal each. The fourth placer earned P5,000; fifth, P4,000; sixth, P3,000; seventh, P2,000; eighth to 10th placers, P1,000 each.

Top female in the event bankrolled by Jesus Ong, was Eden Agape Tumbos who went home with P1,000 incentive. (HGD)
