Camiguin native is PBB's big winner

CAMIGUIN native Maymay Entrata was the Big Winner in the popular reality show "Pinoy Big Brother (PBB) Lucky 7."

The 19-year-old was declared the over-all winner during the Big Night held late Sunday evening at Alonte Sports Arena in Biñan, Laguna.

Entrata, a student of the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTSP), represented Cagayan de Oro in the reality show and was dubbed as "Wacky Go Lucky of CDO."

Entrata was chosen by the celebrity housemates to be one of the official teen housemates of the latest season.

During her stay inside the Big Brother house, she shared her struggles and pains of growing up in the province without a father. She eventually captured the hearts of the viewing audience because of her natural charm, wit, candor and humor.

Following her win, Entrata thanked everyone who supported her journey inside the Big Brother house.

She said that everyone should have the courage to chase their dreams just like what she did.

"Maraming salamat dahil pinili ninyong maging bahagi kayo sa pangarap ko at matupad ang mga ito. Gusto ko lang sabihin sa inyo na wag na wag kayong matakot na mangarap," Entrata said.

The latest big winner added that one should never forget where he or she came from and learn to stand up and fight even if there are roadblocks.

"Pag kayo ay nadapa, bumangon lang kayo at lagi ninyo lang tatandaan kung paano kayo nagsimula at bakit nasa dulo na kayo ng inyong mga pangarap."

"At wag na wag kayong matakot na magpakatotoo kung alam ninyo na tama kayo dahil diyan kayo dadalhin ng inyong pangarap, sa inaasam ninyong tagumpay."

Entratra was a 3rd year student of the city's then Mindanao University of Science and Technology (MUST) when she joined PBB.

She was in her third year taking up Bachelor of Science in Technology Communication Management.

Her classmates and closest friends remember her as one of the jolliest people they know.

Carefree and outgoing, Entrata had friends all over the campus and was a member of various school groups.

Gia Lazo, a USTSP student said that while she was not exactly a close friend of Entrata's, the Big Winner was not really that hard to forget and know because of her personality.

"First of all she was very tall. Quite taller than most actually and she was very thin. But what I really remember about her that whenever she is around it is very hard not to laugh because she always has funny comments," Lazo said.

But behind Entrata’s gags, she had quite the life baggage with her.

Entrata had simple roots in Camiguin and most of the time she would go to school with little or no money. She also grew up with no father after he left when she was only a year old to start another family while her mother worked in Japan.

Even before she made it to PBB, Entrata was already exposing herself out there by joining and winning in school-based beauty competitions such as MUST's Next Top Model back in her second year. According to Lazo, Entrata would always be the top pick of various organizations in MUST to be their student model in their campaign.

Entrata got 42.71 percent of the total votes in the longest edition of the reality show.

She received a house and lot, an Asian tour package and one million pesos. Her winnings and award was handed by former PBB Big Winners Jimboy Martin and Cebuana actress Kim Chiu.

Following her win are Kisses Delavin of Masbate with 31.72 percent of votes, Yong Muhajil of Zamboanga with 21.52 percent of votes and Filipino-German housemate Edward Barber with 4.49 percent of total votes.

Prior to Sunday's Big Night, four other housemates, Tanner Mata, Nikko Natividad and Mccoy De Leon, and Cora Waddell were declared the fifth, sixth and seventh placers in the competition.

"PBB Lucky 7" is the third special edition in the 13 overall seasons of the reality series since its television debut in 2005 on ABS-CBN. (With a report from SunStar Philippines)
