Camp Crame holds training for investigators

POLICE Director Augusto Marquez Jr. said Camp Crame is holding a training program for investigators under Police Regional Office-Central Visayas starting on Wednesday, June 14, until Friday, June 16.

Marquez, the directorate for Investigation and Detective Management director, said the training aims to enhance the skills of the police in investigating crime incidents.

Marquez said investigators have so much workload as they are given different case every day.

"Kining atong mga imbestigador, daghan diay ni ilang workload. For example, one investigator was handling a case then the next day he is given another case. Dili gyud na ma-handle sa imbestigador (Our investigators have so many workload. They can't handle it well),” Marquez said.

He said in 2010, there were only 1,800 trained investigators nationwide and the trainings were only held in Camp Crame.

"We did something to solve the problem. We created training programs but this was only held in Camp Crame before," Marquez said.

He added that as of this year, there are 28,000 trained investigators in the country, but these investigators are not assigned in investigating positions.

"Problema aning mga trained investigators, wala na-assign sa investigating positions. Ang uban probably nag-security guard, nag-driver (The problem with trained investigators is they are not assigned in investigating positions. Probably they are working as security guards or drivers)," Marquez said.

Marquez added that as per their policy, these investigators should be put in their right positions. (With Franz Correa/SunStar Philippines)
