If you’re in the mood to round up your barkada for an ultimate summer kick-off bash, then this event is right up your ally. Campo Tropa is the essential summer barkada trip that won’t break the bank. It’s a fun-filled and action-packed event that entails an overnight camping extravaganza in Mapawa Nature Park, located in Baraggay Cugman in Cagayan De Oro City, Misamis Oriental this coming March 17, 2018.
I was able to catch up with my friend, Louie Pelaez Balbontin whose family operates the park and has leased the place from the government since 1959. She gamely filled me on the details of this Campo Tropa activity. She noted that the event is only 500 pesos; starting at 1pm and ending at 9am the following day. That’s a total of 8 hours of bonding with your barkada…total squad goals, mga bes! Memories made together last a lifetime.
Louie explained: “Mapawa is what you call an event partner. The one who really conceptualized this cool event is Owen Jaen, who is a co-founder of 9000 events. I have to credit them for all the hard work that he and the team members have done to make this all happen at our place. They’ve really done an excellent job to set-up the place and to make-up engaging activities for everyone.”
She pointed out that there are many inclusive things guests can enjoy if they sign up. Louie said: “All the barkada guests can enjoy an open air cinema, an outdoor dance party, and dinner under the stars. On top of that, the guests can also avail of the crash courses on camping and basic trail hiking, plus they can also do swimming at the watering hole. Get your swimsuits, rashguards, hiking shoes, and sunblock ready because it is going to be all out fun for everyone!”
If you and your friends feel like you need to add more activities on top of what is already on the extensive list prepared by the Campo Tropa Team, you are free to try out the other amenities and park activities that are always available daily in Mapawa for a minimal fee! Noteworthy, on other regular days, the park is open at 7am to 5pm daily.
With only an environmental fee of 70 pesos, guests can come to Mapawa and enjoy several activities like the following: obstacle course, swimming pool, ecological trek, bonfire, camping, canyoneering, horseback riding, ziplining, bird watching, picnic, hiking trails, and bike trails. Louie said: “We have a lot of activities that are fit for an individual or groups. There are really so much outdoor activities to suit people of all ages.”
Park amenities include picnic tables, view deck, function hall, multipurpose hall, kiosk, trails, pool, and camping tents. Louie also noted that they have overnight accommodations for groups that want to sleepover on an actual bed. She said: “Aside from camping, we have the dorm at Php350/head with breakfast minimum of 10. Then at the family ranch house bed and breakfast, it’s at Php650 per head, minimum of 5 persons. These include a short guided trek and personalized lectures, around 30 minutes.”
