Car hits drug store; 1 hurt

A WOMAN at a pharmacy was injured when the establishment was hit by a car, at Dream 21 Building on 21st-Lacson Streets, Bacolod City Tuesday afternoon, June 6.

Police identified the victim as Rosario Magbanua. She was paying at the counter, and a display rack fell on her.

Senior Police Officer 2 Jun Garong, traffic investigator of Police Station 4, said Dr. Eddie Mercado, 83, parked his car in front of the pharmacy.

When the doctor was about to leave the vehicle, he mistakenly stepped on the accelerator and his car went into the pharmacy.

Garong said the car hit the glass wall and damaged several items, but the doctor was unharmed.

The cost of damage was not yet determined.

Mercado assisted the victim, who sustained minor injuries.

Woman drowns

In another development, a woman drowned at sea in Sitio Bliss, Barangay Poblacion, Bindoy, Negros Oriental on June 4.

Police identified the fatality as Regene Mae Lendio, 20. Her sisters aged 23 and 14 survived.

Investigation showed that the three sisters together with their family and fellow church members were having an outing.

While swimming, they were swept by the strong current.

They were rescued by one of their church members and all brought to a hospital, but Lendio was pronounced dead. (GYM)
