Cash bonus awaits 63 retirees in Davao City

A TOTAL of 63 retirees from the Davao City Government will receive cash incentives according to their years of service.

Davao City Human Resource and Management Office head Erwin Alparaque said aside from the plaques given to the retirees, they are also entitled to receive cash incentives to be decided under the Program Awards Incentives Service Excellence (Praise) committee.

He said Praise committee, which the creation was mandated by Civil Service Commission, appropriates the amount of the cash incentive depending on the years of service.

"The highest is P20,000 for the average of 20 to 25 years of service," Alparaque said.

"It is mandated by law to create the committee to check how much incentives will be given the employees," he added.

He also said that the lowest incentive can range up to P10,000 for 15 years of service.

Alparaque said the 2017 retirees include those who served the city for 48 years and also those who worked for 15 years.

"They should reach 15 years to avail the benefits under the Government Service Insurance System," he said.

Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, in an interview, expressed her gratitude to the service of the retirees to the country and to the city.

"Magpasalamat ko sa ila sa ilahang service for our city for our country. Karon nga magretire na sila I hope na ma-enjoy nila ang ilang families, I hope na ma-enjoy nila ang ilang retirement and the City Government will always be here to support them for their future plans. (I thank them for their service to our city and to our country. Now that they have retired, I hope that they can enjoy their time with their families. I hope that they can enjoy their retirement and the City Government will always be there to support them in their future plans)," she said.

The City Government hosted a lunch for the retirees and their families at the Grand Men Seng Hotel on Monday, September 25.
