A CATHAY Pacific flight bound for Hong Kong from Brisbane of Queensland, Australia was diverted to Mactan Cebu International Airport (MCIA) after one of its passengers needed medical assistance on Friday morning.
Cathay Pacific flight CX156 landed at 3:51 a.m. on the MCIA, after it departed from Brisbane at 11:10 p.m. last Thursday, September 29.
Engr. Nigel Paul Villarete, general manager of MCIA, said the airport control tower received an information at 3 a.m. that the plane had to land due to a medical emergency.
“Our medical team responded. One passenger and her husband were sent to the Mactan Doctors (Hospital),” Villarete said.
There was no specific information yet from the MCIA on what caused the passenger to seek medical attention.
Villarete said Cathay Pacific flight was able to take off from the Mactan airport at 5:20 a.m. Friday, September 30, to bring other passengers to Hong Kong.
According to the Cathay Pacific official website, the flight landed safely in Hong Kong at 7:38 a.m. Friday, more than an hour delayed of the scheduled time of arrival at 5:55 a.m.
