THE brother of Catmon, Cebu Mayor Dan Modequillo Jusay was arrested in a raid for keeping an unlicensed firearm around 6:45 a.m. Tuesday, October 3.
Operatives led by the Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO)-Provincial Intelligence Branch (PIB) nabbed Jover Modequillo Jusay in his residence in Barangay Flores, Catmon, Cebu.
Jover yielded a .45 pistol loaded with seven bullets.
PIB Deputy Chief Nazarino Emia said Jover had been listed as a high-value target.
Mayor Jusay persuaded Jover to surrender to the police in Oplan Tokhang last year.
The suspect reportedly had links with Lugo, Borbon barangay captain Jinnefer Mercader, who was caught last September. She yielded several firearms.
Mercader claimed he was a hitman working for Cebu City politicians and killing several suspected criminals in Cebu City in early 2000s.
Jover denied his involvement in any illegal activities, including drug trafficking.
The operation in Catmon was authorized by a search warrant.
On Sunday, October 1, police started setting up checkpoints for the implementation of the Commission on Elections gun ban in time for the local polls this month. (KAL/SunStar Cebu)
