Cebu City police monitoring ex-inmates

POLICE are monitoring more than 100 former inmates who were released from Cebu City and Cebu provincial jails in the fourth quarter of 2017.

Superintendent Artemio Ricabo, Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) deputy director for operations, said the City Intelligence Branch is monitoring these individuals who might go back to their old ways and prey on the devotees attending religious activities of the Fiesta Señor and Sinulog.

He said most of these former inmates were caught for petty crimes, including theft.

He added that they have profiles of these former inmates.

Police are also keeping an eye on petty criminals coming from other provinces.

Meanwhile, the CCPO reminded security managers of hotels and pension houses within the 330-meter radius of Sinulog route to follow the Cebu City Government's liquor ban during the Sinulog on January 21.

Chief Inspector Ma. Theresa Macatangay, Abellana Police Station commander, led the meeting of security managers of hotels and entertainment establishments on Thursday morning, January 11.

She said 42 pension houses and small-scale hotels and 36 big hotels are in Abellana Police Station's area of jurisdiction.

"All of them are affected," said Macatangay. (KAL/SunStar Cebu)
