CGFC tops two division in football tilt

CORDILLERA Goshenland Football Club (CGFC) pulls off separate victories in the six and eight under division to rule their respective age class in the second Goshen Land Summer Cup at the Brent Baguio football field recently.

CGFC eked out a 2-1 victory over Balili Football Association of La Trinidad in a penalty shootout after a 2-all count in the regulation to top the six under division with visiting Corinthians FC blasting Josefa FA, 2-0, to salvage third place.

It was a different story this time for the eight under division as CGFC made sure there will be no more penalty shootout by stopping Balili FA, 3-0, in the tournament which was made as a culminating activity of the Goshen Land Summer Football Clinic that drew 83 kids who enrolled in the two clinic modules.

Tarlac FA, meanwhile, blanked Brent School, 1-0, to finish the tournament with a third place honor.

In the 10 under category, Corinthian FC-A salvaged a 1-0 win over First Touch FC to top the division.

Bracket A topnotcher Corinthian FC-A blanked bracket B second seed Corinthian FC–B, 1-0, in the semis to barge in the finals while First Touch, who topped bracket B fired a 1-0 count against Balili FA to arrange the title duel.

CFC–B then took a 1-0 victory over Balili to settle for third.

Olongapo FC escaped Young Pinoy FC, 2-1 in their finals match-up to win the crown in the 12 under division.

Olongapo earlier toppled CGFC in their semis game, 3-1, while Young Pinoy over powered First Touch, 2-1, that saw them barging in the finals.

CGFC had to settle for third by outscoring First Touch, 3-1. (Roderick Osis)
