Charlene Gonzales: Maxine Medina made PH proud

IF THERE'S one woman who could very well understand what Maxine Medina went through on Monday, it definitely is Charlene Gonzales.

Like Medina, the former beauty queen-turned-host competed in the Miss Universe pageant when it was held in the Philippines back in 1994.

Gonzales, in an Instagram post on Tuesday, said it is not easy to represent the country especially when the pageant is held in your homeland.

She commended Medina for staying strong amid criticisms and for continuing on despite the pressure and challenges of the competition.

"The pressure is immense. Victories and defeats are magnified. I commend you Maxine for being a strong woman & for pushing forward despite the pressure & challenges being thrown your way."

"That for me that shows strength, character and true attributes of a queen. Us Filipinos are 'one' in supporting you. Here's looking to an exciting future ahead as an abundance of blessings awaits you. Again, we are proud of you and congratulations Maxine."

Medina finished in the Top 6 of the 65th Miss Universe.

She received the loudest cheers from the local fans and pageant enthusiasts and even impressed many during the swimsuit and evening gown competitions.

Even though she failed to make it in the Final 3, netizens still expressed their support to Medina.

The 26-year-old, on her part, said she gave her best and did everything she could to win a back-to-back title for the country.

"Happy na ako, at least Top 6. Na-represent ko ang Philippines nang maganda and with my full performance. One hundred percent, naibigay ko na."
