Charmp2 eyes 18 new villages; P70.7-M budget

CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga -- The Second Cordillera Highland Agricultural Management Project (Charmp2) now covers 18 villages in the six provinces of the Cordillera Administrative Region with proposed financial assistance of P70.7 million in two years.

Charmp2 scale-up from 2017 to 2018 is a two year additional financing of development projects for 18 new villages within the six provinces in the Cordillera.

Total proposed budget for rural infrastructure development is P67.6 million, P1.6 million on environment protection, and P1.5 million for livelihood assistance. Each village will share P21 million from the proposed budget for said development projects.

Engineer Cynthia Imperial of the Provincial Planning and Development Office reported that covered villages in Kalinga are Lower Taloctoc in Tanudan, Bugnay in Tinglayan and Balinciagao Sur in Pasil.

She said P20 million will be allocated per village for rural infrastructure development of which amount is inclusive of the 10 percent local government unit counterpart; P525,000 each for community watershed conservation and agro-forestry covering at least 15 hectares; and P500,000 each livelihood assistance fund for agriculture, agribusiness and income generating activities.

“Validation and finalization of proposed infra projects are completed along with the identification of partner people’s organization and formation of livelihood interest groups,” Imperial said. (PIA)
