Cherry blossoms bloom in Aklan town

LEZO, Aklan -- Cherry blossom flowers remain a favorite of residents of this town in their observance of Holy Week.

Ayrill Quinesio, a resident, said that their family is one of those who use cherry blossoms because they are colorful and easily available.

There are four remaining cherry blossom trees at the Lezo public park. Two were toppled down by super Typhoon Yolanda in 2013.

"We do not know who planted it and when. The trees are a common sight for the residents," said Quinesio, who works as a technical staff of the Go Negosyo Center.

Flowers of the cherry blossom trees are being used to adorn religious images here during Holy Week.
