THE second film festival featuring full length and short film works of Ilonggo filmmakers will reel on Monday, December 8, until Saturday, December 13, in Iloilo City to once again show off the presence of filmmakers in Western Visayas.
CineKasimanwa festival director and programmer Elvert de la Cruz Banares said the film festival will be opened at the SM City Cinema 1 with an epic four hours film “Norte, Hangganan ng Kasaysayan” by internationally acclaimed filmmaker Lav Diaz.
A total of 11 full-length films running one to four hours and 67 short films running one to 59 minutes will be featured during the festival.
Aside from SMCity Cinema 1, other screenings will be held at the Cinematheque Iloilo at B & C Square and at Cinematheque UP Visayas.
Banares said that Western Visayas is rich with good and artistic filmmakers waiting for a break in the film-making industry. There are 87 films submitted for revenue by 75 Ilonggo filmmakers, including students.
Actors Sid Lucero and Alexandra de Rossi and producer filmmaker Albert Almendralejo will lead the December 9 screening program with other Ilonggo filmmakers. The main aim is to promote and support films and filmmakers from Western Visayas.
Other full length films to be be shown are “Dapya sang Paglaum” by TM Malones of Maasin, Iloilo; “My Fake American Accent” by Ned Trespeces of Iloilo City; “Wanted Border” and “Brod” by Ray Gibraltar of Guimbal, Iloilo; “Namets” by Jay Abello of Bacolod City; “Tumbang Preso” by Kip Oebanda; “Trabaho” by Ned Trespeces; “T’yanak” by Peque Gallaga and Lore Reyes; “Little Azkals” by Baby Ruth Villarama; and “Dagyang” by lawyer Joenar Pueblo.
