City gov't seeks more firetrucks

THE Bacolod City Government is seeking more fire trucks.

The City Council has approved a resolution requesting Interior and Local Government Secretary Ismael Sueno to allocate one fire truck for the city’s Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).

The resolution, authored by Councilor Em Ang, chairperson of committee on tourism, was approved during its regular session Wednesday.

Ang said the ideal number of fire trucks should be one for every 28,000 citizens.

“Bacolod City, with a population of 579,101, has seven fire trucks or one fire truck for 82,729 people,” she said.

“It is apparent that the current number of our fire trucks is grossly inadequate to serve the entire constituents especially when there are big fires and emergencies occurring in the city,” Ang added.

She said that having a fire truck could appropriately respond not only to fires, but to any emergency involving high rise buildings and structures.

E-Transaction system

Meanwhile, Ang also urged all the barangays in the city to adopt the E-Transaction system.

Ang said the E-Transaction system is browser-based software designed to support the barangay on its day-to-day transactions, manage documents, and general transaction reports.

On March 25, Barangay Felisa launched its E-Transaction system, making it the first barangay in the region to implement the same.

“The E-Transaction will help facilitate easy access to and management of transactions and will make delivery of basic services of barangay more efficient, and must be implemented by all barangays,” Ang added. (MAP)
