THE Local Inter-Agency Committee (Liac), the body that oversees the implementation of the Zamboanga City Roadmap to Recovery and Reconstruction, has asked MalacaƱang to fast track the constitution of the Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA) board.
The constitution of the LWUA Board is crucial to the downloading of funds from LWUA to the Zamboanga City Water District (ZCWD) that will be used for the water pipe laying project and the construction of sewerage treatment plant in the areas affected by the Zamboanga siege in 2013.
City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office Chief Elmeir Jade Apolinario said the request is for the Office of the President to consider the immediate naming of the LWUA board which was dissolved upon the entry of the new administration last July.
Apolinario said that a LWUA board resolution is necessary to authorize the downloading of the over P500 million funding to the ZCWD which will implement the projects for the benefit of the siege-affected families.
The pipe laying project and construction of a sewage treatment plant remain pending without the activation of the LWUA board.
