Civil registrar's office holds awareness programs

THE Zamboanga City Civil Registrar's Office is conducting activities in connection with the Civil Registration Month celebration pursuant to Proclamation 682 series of 1991.

Lawyer Eric Elias said the ongoing activities are aimed to promote and increase the level of public awareness on the importance of civil registration like births and marriage licenses.

Elias said the series of activities started on February 2 with orientation for persons with disability (PWDs) focal persons on processing and requirements for birth registration.

He said the participants came from the villages of San Roque, Boalan, Cawit, Sta. Maria, Arena Blanco, Taluksangay, Labuan and Sangali.

On February 6, Elias said they processed birth registration and late registration of births for untagged internally displaced persons (IDPs) in the village of Tulungatung.

They also conducted orientation on birth registration for probationers and parolees at the Probation Office.

Elias said the other activities will continue until the end of February. (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
