BACOLOD City Legal Office (CLO) head Joselito Bayatan said he will look into the operations of the terminals of car rental businesses in the city to determine if they have appropriate permits.
Bayatan’s move came after Councilor Dindo Ramos, chair of the committee on transportation, recommended that the operations of alleged colorum vans should be looked into in all areas in the city, along with operations of Grab and Uber rent-a-car businesses.
On Tuesday, the Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) impounded a colorum van of DPL Rent-A-Car and Tours along Lopez Jaena Street. The van loaded with nine passengers was bound for Hinoba-an town.
Superintendent Luisito Acebuche, head of BTAO, said the DPL used the area as a terminal, and not for a car rental business.
For his part, Ramos had recommended the establishment of regional offices of the Land Transportation Office and the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board for NIR for the convenience of people transacting with these agencies.
Bayatan said they will check if the permits of car rental businesses covers the operation of units parked outside their terminal.(TDE)
